Harry Potter Trio Reunited for One Last Adventure

Harry Potter fans, raise your wands! Muggles and magical beings alike can experience the wizarding world with Harry Potter and his friends on the new Escape From Gringotts ride at Universal's Wizarding World of Harry Potter this summer.

Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson will reprise their roles as Harry, Ron, and Hermione in brand new scenes on the new 3D ride, MTV announced.

Alan Gilmore, the art director for the park's rides as well as the films, told MTV that "They'll be there! It's quite exciting. They're regrouping for one last adventure."

Opening this summer as part of the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Diagon Alley area in Orlando, the ride will take patrons on a thrilling ride through Gringott's cavernous vaults where they will meet Bellatrix Lestrange (Helena Bonham-Carter) and He Who Must Not Be Named.

Featuring a recreated scene from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt. 2 movie, Escape from Gringotts will be the main attraction inside the newly added Diagon Alley area.

The 20-person mine car is set on a track that parallels the path the trio took with Griphook the goblin (set to be reprised by Warwick Davis) as they pass through Thief's Downfall and face the 60-foot, fire-breathing Ukrainian Ironbelly dragon, Huffington Post confirmed.

"You get to see the events in the film from another prospective," Davis said in a Behind-the-Scenes video released by Universal. "The ride picks the adventure up just after Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Griphook have come through the waterfall of Thief's Downfall."

While the ride itself can be expected to be exciting enough, Universal and Gilmore has fully recreated Gringotts as seen in the films, from the intricate detailing of the exterior and interior of the lobby to the staff of goblins hard at work - which will fully move!

If that wasn't enough, J.K. Rowling's film adaption of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is set to hit theaters in 2016.

Gringotts Bank, along with the rest of the Diagon Alley, will be opening its doors this summer, with an official date to be announced soon.

Game of Thrones Gets a 16-bit Super Mario World Parody

We're little over halfway through season 4 of Game of Thrones, and the community is burning like dragon fire. One fan, YouTuber NicksplosionFX, has used his skills for good by creating this parody of the iconic Game of Thrones opening credits sequence, but with a twist! He used the landmarks and style of Super Mario World not just for the visuals but the music as well!

Channing Tatum Officially Cast as Gambit

Last night on the red carpet for X-Men: Days of Future Past in London, executive producer Lauren Shuler Donner confirmed that Channing Tatum will join the rest of the X-Men as Gambit.

The rumors are confirmed. Channing Tatum to take on the role of Gambit.

"It's Channing," Donner told TotalFilm. "He's a rogue, Channing. He's a rascal, just like Remy LeBeau, and he can handle the action, we all know that. And he's got a real good heart, I know him personally." She added, "He'll be great for Gambit, and he's a southerner, too…he understands that world, and you know Gambit loves New Orleans."


Rumors of Tatum taking on the role of the card-dealing Cajun have been milled about since September, when according to Slash Film, the 21 Jump Street and Magic Mike star claimed Gambit was the superhero he would most like to play during an interview promoting White House Down.
"I would like to play Gambit. Gambit's my favorite. I'm from New Orleans, around that area. My dad's from New Orleans, and I like to do a Cajun accent. I could do it for real. No knock on Taylor Kitsch, though, 'cause I actually like his Gambit, but I've always lived around Cajun people. [...] Gambit was always like the woman-loving, cigarette-smoking, drinking [guy]. He was the punk rock of all the superheroes. He's a thief. He kind of rode the line."


Created by Chris Claremont and Jim Lee in 1990, Gambit possesses the mutant ability to mentally generate and manipulate pure kinetic energy. He has been a fan favorite and one of the most famous members of the X-Men. Gambit was first portrayed on film by Taylor Kitsch, as Tatum mentioned, in the poorly received 2009 film X-Men Origins: Wolverine. It will be interesting to see how this summer's Days of Future Past, which does not star Tatum, will juggle not only Gambit's previous film incarnation but also the myriad timeline continuity obstacles the film series has made for itself. The question remains whether Tatum's Gambit will be featured in X-Men: Apocalypse, the sequel to DOFP, or if his first appearance will be in his own solo film. My money's on the former, as a team-up film with other X-Men would allow 20th Century Fox to test the waters not only on the fans' approval of Channing Tatum but also on the wider movie-going public's acceptance of the Gambit character. Either way, one thing is for certain; Tatum better get to work on his Cajun accent, because we definitely don't want anything resembling this:

Book Review: Californication's God Hates Us All From Hank Moody

When I accidentally "StumbleUpon'ed" this book, I was confused. I thought perhaps it was a cover poster for the fictitious Hank Moody novel God Hates Us All. After a few clicks and paragraphs read, the item in question revealed itself to be the famous book as seen on Californication and was soon on its way to my doorstep, 2-day delivery style.

Yes, I was hasty. I won't say I was under the illusion that it would reveal itself to be a book to rival modern classics such as Fight Club, but I was extremely curious to finally read a novel voiced by Hank Moody. After all, writing is writing regardless of whether the author's fictitious or not. Having said this, the party responsible for this near 200-page lukewarm anthem of reckless young adulthood in New York's transition into the '90s is Jonathan Grotenstein under the premise that it was Hank Moody, magically out of the screen and into the flesh.

Maybe I haven't read too many books recently, or perhaps my previous foraging into English classics like Mary Shelley's Frankenstein has left me with a taste for richer journeys than fast-paced modern storytelling. I used "lukewarm" to describe this faux novel turned fanboy material mostly due to the outrageous hype and worship God Hates Us All received in the Californication series. Maybe this is the greatest charm of the novelty item: the debunking of such a critically praised work in a sarcastic "This is it?" tone. Clearly the hype is satirical, because anything that sells is instantly denominated "brilliant" in Hollywood. As Hank himself would say in the show, "Why can't anything be just good, or OK?"

That's exactly what God Hates Us All turns out to be in the real world: an OK pastime rather than a brilliant book, centered around a young man with no true goal or aim who ends up in and out of the world of minor drug dealing. Although the narration does build a romantic, slightly pessimistic vision of the world through personal accounts, there are very few epiphanies or moments of enlightenment. Rather, the character monotonously jumps from one situation to the next, skipping details that would have enriched the circumstances and story. I suspect time constraints forced this novel out early due to contractual obligations with Showtime or some such bureaucratic routine. The result is a mildly amusing tale of transition into adulthood with the occasional sex, drugs, and some mention of rock and roll.

It's not just the lack of attention to detail that bothered me; it seems like the narrating voice stays the same through good times and bad times, something I found lazy. There aren't any memorable moments of drama, save for a family crisis. There are a few anecdotes of bold situational awkwardness that I enjoyed.

It's not a bad book, but it doesn't deserve any special mention. Given that this is a licensed item, I understand the limitations that might have surrounded its inception. It would have been better if Californication writer Tom Kapinos himself had had a direct influence in the writing of this novel so that it could better match the greatness of the show's tome.

I can't give this more than a 2 out of 5, simply because it's a licensed item and one that didn't pay attention to much detail other than borrowing a few lines from Hank Moody's repertoire of dialogue. Sorry to be ripping you a new asshole, "Hank," but this is teenage literature at best. Anyone else feel the same? Comment on this piece by a major, and I do mean major American author, motherfucker!

First Look! Ben Affleck as Batman with The Batmobile

As I was saying yesterday, this is the way to release your movie hype: your pace, your footage, your own director taking the pictures himself! Here is an amazing first look at not only the Batmobile but also Ben Affleck's bat suit for the upcoming Batman vs. Superman movie!

The Batmobile is less surprising than the batsuit, so let's focus on that! The ears are short and the insignia is huge. This is definitely inspired by The Dark Knight Returns, hinted at by director Zack Snyder months ago. As much as I rag on DC and how I think the handling of this movie may end up going (poorly, in case you were wondering), this is one awesome photo.

Batman vs. Superman stars Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman and Henry Cavill as Superman, with Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, and Diane Lane reprising their roles from Man of Steel. New to the big screen is Wonder Woman, played by the sexy and currently beefing-up Gal Gadot. Jesse Eisenberg is surprisingly cast as Lex Luthor.

This picture has surprisingly won me over, what do you think? Is Batman too brooding? Is he too heavily contrast to Superman's bright blue and red?

Alien Artist H.R. Giger Dies at 74

The visionary artist who brought us biotechnological images of terror and sexuality, which helped to transform the world of science fiction into a category of respect has, literally, fallen to his death in his home in Zurich, Switzerland. A fluke accident while tripping down the stairs.

Giger beats all recent deaths in the arts/entertainment world (OK maybe not de Lucia). His work was extremely avant-garde, and included the beloved Alien creature in Ridley Scott's 1979 epic movie and its sequels.

Film and canvas weren't his only outlets, as bands used his artwork for album covers (such as Celtic Frost, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Carcass, and Danzig). He even designed art for a series of Ibanez guitars and designed Korn frontman Jonathan Davis's live mic stand.

You can also directly view his art in the H.R. Giger museum in Gruyères and theme bars in Gruyères and Chur, both in Switzerland. RIP, Giger! What's your favorite piece of Giger work? Will there ever be such an intense oeuvre in sci-fi again? Comment, and check out some of his work, it's phenomenal.

New Batmobile Teased for Batman vs. Superman

Zach Snyder has teased the Batmobile from the upcoming (and currently filming) Batman vs. Superman project! I can't write anymore, look at the pic!

The movie is set to come out against Captain America 3: Electric Bugaloo in 2016, and hype is going to be off the charts for this one. It will be the sequel to Man of Steel, Ben Affleck's first appearance as Batman, the first major movie for Wonder Woman, and the first live action for Aquaman since the WB screwed him up. Also, DC will ram Cyborg down our throats some more while probably adding Green Lantern and potentially showing us that the film is somehow tied to CW's The Flash and Arrow TV series! It's all very exciting, and if it's the train wreck many (who…me?) think it could be, this will be amazing to watch on-screen and off.

Snyder has the right idea though: tidbits. Drop cookie crumbs in your way, on your own social media. I'm sure he needed to get approval for this but as long as the right people listen to the right other people, there's a chance they could keep the potential over-hype controlled. First Look! Official Constantine Trailer #1

NBC's new series Constantine, based on a DC Comics character, was approved, cast, and filmed with little fanfare. Now the series is ready to go and already has its first trailer!

The story of John Constantine was told in a Keanu Reeves film of the same name; it was met with decent reviews but was otherwise forgettable. The series follows an occult detective, played by Matt Ryan, and will likely be CGI-heavy, as many of his cases will lead him to meet with demons and monsters. Constantine himself has a following in the comic book world that will definitely be checking the series out on Fridays this fall.

The show comes at a time where we are all wondering if NBC's Constantine, Fox's Gotham, and CW's The Flash and Arrow will be interconnected at all. DC has been trying to duplicate Marvel's big-and small-screen success, licensing their characters to TV and film all year. With the Batman/Superman/Wonder Woman/Green Lantern/Aquaman/Cyborg movie coming out next year, they appear to be scrambling to throw everything at a wall and see what sticks.

The Landscape of the 2014–2015 TV Programming Schedule Lineup

The Walking Dead Season 5 Spoilers and NewsHey, hey, hey Dacetacular nation! The Dace Man here to bring you what's on the horizon for the world of television in the 2014–2015 season! Over the past couple of weeks networks have been axing and renewing like crazy—so much so that it is very difficult to keep track of what's coming back and what isn't. So yours truly is gonna break it down for you by network! Now, I decided to keep it strictly to the basic channels, because once you get into networks like HBO, ShowTime, and Starz we could be here for a very, very long time. We all know shows like The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones are a lock due to their incredible cult followings and the fact that they are hitting huge ratings and blowing up social media. So let's get down to the nitty gritty of the basic channels that reach most Americans!

ABC Cancels Once Upon a Time in WonderlandABC

The Disney-operated network certainly has had its share of programming over the past few years, trying to find key programs to combat the juggernauts known as CBS and NBC. Their recent adventures into the Marvel cinematic universe proving fruitful, however. Here is the list of what ABC will be bringing back next season.

ABC Has also announced that it will be picking up a few new shows as well: Marvel's Agent Carter, Selfie, Black-ish, and American Crimes. I'm excited that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and The Goldbergs got picked up for a second season and look forward to the Fall.

CBS Cancels The Crazy Ones with Robin WilliamsCBS

CBS has been a juggernaut of success stories over the past few years, but with the departure of a show like How I Met Your Mother, one has to wonder how they will fill that gap, as well as who made the cut to roll into the fall of 2014. Here's the list of Survivors—see what I did there?

Like ABC, CBS has decided to invest in its franchises, bringing NCIS: New Orleans and CSI: Cyber,  to the television lineup in 2014 and 2015. Alongside them CBS has green-lit The Odd Couple, Madam Secretary, The McCarthys, Scorpion, and Stalker.

Now we trot down to NBC!

NBC

NBC Cancels Community, The Michale J Fox Show and RevolutionNBC has made some interesting choices heading into the 2014–2015 television war for ratings,cutting some cult-followed shows and renewing some veterans. Below are the lists of the shows from NBC that received the ax and those that made it into the future. First, what made the cut:

  • About a Boy
  • Chicago Fire
  • Chicago P.D.
  • Grimm
  • Hannibal
  • Law & Order: SVU
  • Parenthood
  • Parks and Recreation
  • The Blacklist
It's no surprise that shows like Parks and Recreations and Law & Order: SVU made the cut, but there were some shockers as to what was offed prior to this fall. Some of the shows below cause the Internet to jump up in arms. It makes one wonder if these shows are truly dead? Nevertheless, they will not be returning to NBC:
  • Believe
  • Community
  • Crisis
  • Dracula
  • Growing Up Fisher
  • Ironside
  • Revolution
  • Sean Saves the World
  • The Michael J. Fox Show
  • Welcome to The Family
For NBC to wipe out its entire Thursday night lineup is very ballsy. They never really recovered with programming since the debacle with The Jay Leno Show. Canceling Community has obviously sent the Internet into an uproar, since the show has been given the shaft at every possible chance and still made it five seasons. We can hope that someone like Netflix or Amazon will jump on the opportunity to pick up the show and run with it like they did with Arrested Development.

FOX

FOX Cancels American Dad but TBS Picks it up.FOX has always been a network willing to take a risk and see what it can get out to the masses. Look at shows like Titus and Fringe that had huge cult followings and managed to hang on for a decent run. They certainly took a chance with Seth McFarlane; hell, half the prime-time programming somehow had him attached. Here are the shows that did make the cut on FOX!
  • Bob's Burger's
  • Brooklyn Nine-Nine
  • Family Guy
  • Glee
  • New Girl
  • Sleepy Hollow
  • The Following
  • The Mindy Project
  • The Simpsons
Titles like The Simpsons and Family Guy were no brainers when it came to another season, but shows like Glee, after Cory Monteith's passing, were hit or miss. Now here are the shows that will not see the fall this year, at least on FOX:
  • Almost Human
  • American Dad
  • Dads
  • Enlisted
  • Raising Hope
  • Rake
  • Surviving Jack
Personally I think American Dad is a hundred times better than Family Guy and am very glad that it hasn't been cancelled. American Dad, much like ABC's former comedy Cougar Town, has found a home on TBS instead. As for the rest of the lineup, they were not so lucky. Maybe Christopher Meloni will make his way back to Law & Order:SVU (fingers crossed!). Also, a side note for all you comic nerds: Gotham has been picked up!

On to our last network!

CW

Spoilers and News on CW's ArrowCW is Warner Bros.' baby and houses many of our favorite sci-fi hits and DC Comic heroes. With some strong programming The CW has been able to contend with the likes of CBS, ABC, FOX, and NBC. In 2014–2015 it looks to continue the battle. Here are the shows returning:
  • Arrow
  • Beauty & The Beast
  • Hart of Dixie
  • Reign
  • Supernatural
  • The 100
  • The Originals
  • The Vampire Diaries
I am super excited for the renewal of Arrow because it is my favorite show on television to date. I am also stoked that The 100 got picked up, because the concept is phenomenal and has a lot of potential. Here are the shows that did not make it:
  • Star-Crossed
  • The Carrie Diaries
  • The Tomorrow People
Not too bad on the axing end for the CW; they did also lose Nikita, but that was in its final season anyway. One show to look out for on The CW is The Flash. CW will expand the DC Universe on our small screen by following the character we met in the middle of season 2 of Arrow, Barry Allen. I am extremely excited for the potential of this show as well!

Lost Relics of the '90s: The Simpsons Sing the Blues

The Simpsons to kill off a major character news and spoilers
Hey, hey, hey, Dacetacular Nation! Chris "The Dace Man" Dace here, back to drop some more Nerdstalgia on you! In this edition of "Lost Relics of the '90s," we take a look into the 1990 album The Simpsons Sing The Blues, the first offshoot album from the hit TV series The Simpsons.

If you were born in the late '80s or early '90s, you have pretty much grown up with the yellow family from Springfield, and Bart and Lisa have been there every step of the way. Now as much as you wish you could age like them—which is not at all—they did manage to drop this relic of an album on us pretty early in the Simpsons franchise.

The album hit the market in December 1990, barely a year after the premiere episode on FOX in '89. It would go on to hit number three on the Billboard 200. Having names such as DJ Jazzy Jeff and the iconic Michael Jackson attached to the project, the album was a hit—especially the single Do The Bartman. Now if you're like me, this song was a huge part of your childhood. There is poor-quality VHS out there of a young Dace Man kicking walls and essentially doing his own version of the Bartman. The song was co-written and co-produced by the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, but because Jackson was working for another label, he couldn't come right out and say he helped. (It's similar to how Wolverine is an Avenger, but because FOX controls the X-Men movie rights, we will never see him in Disney's Marvel Cinematic Universe.)


The success of The Simpsons Sing the Blues led other animated characters to try and take up a life within the music world. Barbie went on to release an album, and of course Disney took the ball and ran with it—from Sebastian in The Little Mermaid to that annoying chick from Frozen. (I didn't like that movie; "Let It Go" was whiny. But that's a topic for another day.) The album contains ten tracks, three of which were released as singles, with The Bart Man being the most successful of them.

This would be the first of several album releases for The Simpsons, including a couple of collections of songs from the TV Show sung by various characters in the town of Springfield. Through 25 years and 550 episodes, we've experienced a movie, music albums, games, and a ton of collectible toys and figures, but for me nothing was as iconic or everlasting as The Simpsons Sings The Blues. I thoroughly regret not being able to save the original cassette. (For you young'uns out there, that's what we had before CDs, and CDs are what we had before your damn iPods.) Enjoy The Bartman and this trip down '90s Boulevard, because we're 23 years out from this album's release and time is only moving forward...

Gerard Way Might Have a New Monthly Comic in the Works

The former lead singer of American Rock Band, My Chemical Romance, might be creating a new monthly comic book series. Here is a snippet from his recent blog post:

Fabulous Killjoys comic book coverWay's first major comic, The Umbrella Academy, was published by Dark Horse in 2007. It went on to win 2008 Eisner Award for Best Finite Series/Limited Series. Part two, The Umbrella Academy: Dallas came out in 2008, with parts three and four on the horizon.

After My Chemical Romance's album, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, Way penned a comic book sequel by the same name. It premiered at Free Book Day 2013 and ran until January 1st 2014 under Dark Horse.

The hint at a new monthly has fans buzzing with excitement. With My Chemical Romance's break-up last year, we can assume that Way will be dedicating more time to his comic book career, and can hope to see many more titles in the future.

Warren Ellis keeps up the pace with his one-shot Moon Knight stories in Moon Knight #3, titled "Box," and never ceases to please. It's surprising how little is actually written in these issues as Ellis taps into the artistic synergy of Declan Shalvery and Jordie Bellaire, whose lines and colors, respectively, take the heft of the storytelling. Ellis gives us the bare essentials of the one-off plots and weaves in another morsel of Marc Spector's overarching story before letting Shalvey and Bellaire run free with their talents.

I feel quite proud of myself for the captioning!
This issue introduces another stunning new look in Moon Knight's repertoire of costumes: the Egyptian bone armor, which allows Moon Knight to fight otherwise intangible malevolent forces—in this case, the poltergeists of four punk-styled gangsters terrorizing a certain stretch of road in New York City. The visuals of his new costume are absolutely stunning, and I tip my hat to both Ellis and Shalvey. Shalvey had revealed in a few interviews his intensive collaboration with Ellis to get the look for the new costume just right, particularly in the large bird skull mask. The frustration and effort paid off, guys!

I loved this issue the most compared with the past two—which were both great, mind you!—not just because of the new costume, but because Ellis once again draws his inspiration for the story from a classic Moon Knight tale. As soon as I saw the spectral gangsters and the mysterious box on the title page, I immediately recognized the callback to Moon Knight (Volume 1) issues #31–32 and their two-part story written by the Moon Knight-legendary Doug Moench and illustrated by Kevin Nowlan, Terry Austin, and Christie Scheele, "A Box of Music for Savage Studs," and "When the Music Stops…."

The classic tales told the story of Dough Row, a decrepit street in Brooklyn of merchant shops plagued by a gang of teenage punks called the Savage Studs who terrorize the shop owners for money to fund their club dance party. It's a beautifully written, sad story about desperation and broken dreams that not even Moon Knight could fight against to bring peace to Dough Row. The original story was very street level, so there was no supernaturalism to it despite what the cover to issue #31 would have you believe. Although the names and locale were changed in the new story, the memory was still there for Moon Knight's hardcore fans, and it was a very nice nod from Ellis and company.

Follow the mystery of Khonshu, the Egyptian God of Vengeance and the Moon, in Moon Knight: Resurrection Wars on Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited
This issue saw the continuation of the Marc and Khonshu relationship mystery that the first issue had touched upon, but it only gave us enough of a taste of the pie to keep readers hooked. Ellis, Shalvey, and Bellaire continue to prove their worthiness for any Marvel book through Moon Knight, and I only hope we get at least a double-digit run from the current creative team before they pass on the baton.

Moon Knight #3 receives 5 out of 5 stars for both Ellis' writing and Shalvey and Bellaire's art, making this issue a definite must-read for any Marvel fan. Don't forget to check out Moon Knight (Volume 1) #31–32, both of which can be found in the cheap Essential Moon Knight Volume 2 compendium.

Deadpool vs. Carnage #3 Review

Oh no, me again? What more could I possibly do to make your lives any more chock-full of symbiotes? Well, I can definitely talk to you about Marvel's Deadpool Vs. Carnage #3, if you'd like. But as you know, there's always a catch to these reviews—and that catch is a recap of the last issue in this frenetic tour de sang! Let's waste no more time!

In Deadpool Vs. Carnage #2, Cletus Kasady—aka our debonair symbiote, Carnage—proceeds to tear into Deadpool with the assistance of his fan-favorite squeeze, Shriek, after getting his own butt handed to him by the Merc with a Mouth in issue #1. Convinced that Deadpool won't be coming after him anymore, Carnage and Shriek put some miles between them and Deadpool to continue their cross-country murder spree. Deadpool, being Deadpool, pulls himself back together with the help of his mutant healing factor and continues to follow his divine muse through seemingly random signs pointing in Carnage's direction. He meets up with a large fellow named Doverton, who's wearing one of his spare costumes after winning a storage locker full of the Merc's gear in an auction. Together they ride their synchronized crazy wave to locate Carnage. Deadpool gets the drop on Carnage and Shriek on the highway with a large farming tractor, bumping Shriek into yet another coma (sort of… stay tuned) before recommencing his duel with the symbiotic psychopath.

Cullen Bunn begins issue #3 by giving us an earful (er, eyeful?) of Deadpool's banter as he exchanges blows with Carnage, downplaying the existence of Carnage's own muse—Chaos—as nothing more than an imaginary friend. Throughout the past three issues, Deadpool has been showing up Carnage's ideals of chaos by literally locating him through order in the form of his divine road map. At every turn, Deadpool is right there waiting for Carnage, and it really shows in Cletus' reactions that this notion of organized chaos is getting to him.

Carnage escapes, dragging Shriek's unconscious body along in some sort of serial killer lover's relationship. (Aaaaw, Bunn finally did what Carnage's fandom has been asking for and shipped the lovely couple!). But none too soon, Deadpool receives another of his divinations, this time foreshadowing the appearance of a particular group of symbiotes that hasn't been seen since Carnage USA. I have to admit, half of the entertainment I get out of this limited series is just seeing how Bunn comes up with ways for Deadpool to get his messages.

Defeated by Deadpool's incessant tracking method, Carnage gives in and decides to ride this organized chaos wave. They end up in the same place together, at which point Deadpool receives a much-needed upgrade in his war with Carnage—which you'll have to find out about by picking up an issue or waiting until my next review! (Option A preferred.)

What more can I say about Bunn's work on this series than what's already been said? Bunn gets Deadpool and Carnage, and he knows what the fans want (at least, I think he does for symbiote fans). Hopefully, this organized chaos plot thread culminates in the next and final issue, and I speak for all of my fellow Venomaniacs when I say I hope we see one or two more special symbiote guests before the grand bloody finale.

Salvador Espin and Glenn Fabry continue to please hemophiliacs with gory and animated art to complement the dark humor Bunn churns out at an alarming rate. I also want to congratulate Espin for managing to make Shriek look like the sexy badass she really is. She hasn't had a great run with Marvel artists when it comes to her feminine charms, but Espin finally delivers Cletus his murderous beauty queen—born from the rags and musk of '90s grunge and metal, and blossoming as a goddess of tempered insanity. Bravo!

Deadpool Vs. Carnage #3 receives 4.5 out of 5 stars for Bunn's writing—which is reduced by half a star only for something that upset me and a few other symbiote fans but which you'll have to read about later—and 5 out of 5 stars for the superb art. Again, I urge you to pick up issues one, two, and three before the fourth comes out on June 4. CW's The Flash and iZombie Announced with Posters

In the season of cancellations, it's time for some new series announcements! The Flash and iZombie have each been greenlit for a full first season. The posters and descriptions below give us a great idea of what to expect from these DC Comics properties.

DC Comics tv series The Flash

The Flash is a spinoff from CW's Arrow, a series whose ratings are questionable lately. The two series will run in conjunction and will most likely help support one another. The plan seems to be to build a "Marvel"-like universe, but there is serious doubt that the magic can be duplicated. Here is the official series announcement:
Based upon characters published by DC Comics. Through a freak accident, scientist Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) is given the power of super speed, which transforms him into the Fastest Man Alive.

The DC's speedy superhero series stars Grant Gustin (Glee), Jesse L. Martin (Law & Order), Danielle Panabaker (Shark), Rick Cosnett (The Vampire Diaries), Candice Patton (The Game), Tom Cavanagh (Ed), John Wesley Shipp (The Flash from the '90s), Carlos Valdes, guest star Patrick Sabongui, and recurring star Michelle Harrison (Emily Owens, MD).

Zombie tv series fall 2014 CW

I don't know a whole lot about iZombie, having never read the book, but the series was a popular one. In a decade where zombies rule in all mediums, is CW is hoping to duplicate the success of The Walking Dead? This series poster is sure to draw some attention. The lead character, Gwen, is seen eating what can only be inferred as a chopstick load of human brain. Though just discreet enough to pass as noodles or something, I don't know if the eating of human remains is in the advertising "good books." In any case, here are the official details on the show:
A med student-turned-zombie takes a job in the coroner's office to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat to maintain her humanity. But with each brain she consumes, she inherits the corpse's memories. With the help of her medical examiner boss and a police detective, she solves homicide cases in order to quiet the disturbing voices in her head. Based on the characters created by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred, and published by DC Comics' Vertigo imprint.

DC's Vertigo comic adaptation executive produced by Rob Thomas stars David Anders (Once Upon a Time), Robert Buckley (One Tree Hill), Rose McIver (Once Upon a Time), Malcolm Goodwin (Breakout Kings), Alexandra Krosney (Last Man Standing), Nora Dunn (Entourage), and Rahul Kohli.

Regardless if you are a huge Hunger Games fan or not, we have all at some point wondered how long we would survive the Hunger Games if our name was chosen at the Reaping. Adding the rules of dodgeball and replacing the balls with foam-tipped arrows, the 38,000-sqare-foot arena is full of inflated paintball bunkers as two teams go head-to-head. Players can also enjoy an "every man for themselves" match to see who is the last man—or woman—standing.

The complex also offers zombie laser tag, non exploding paintball, and black ops laser tag, integrating archery and laser tag into their weekly Zombiefest events.

While Indoor Extreme Sports is the only Archery Tag center in New York, the company plans on opening a center on Staten Island this summer with a larger outdoor field, The New York Times reported.

Archery has become widely popular with the success of Hunger Games, Avengers, Brave, and Arrow, featuring prominent characters wielding a quiver. This trending new arena match will definitely influence a few enthusiasts to run around shouting, "You have failed this city!" before unleashing a heap of flying arrows in every which direction. (Ok, I know I'm not the only one tempted to do so! Come on!)

Nintendo: No "Miiquality" in Same-Sex Marriage

Same-sex marriage has been at the forefront of many heated debates in recent years, and members of the LGBT community have striven for equality in all forms—and it doesn't stop in the real world.

Miiquality urges for same-sex marriage and gay characters in Nintendo 3DS game

Nintendo recently announced that it will not allow same-sex marriage or the use of gay characters in its popular game, Tomodachi Life, after a glitch in the original Japanese version allowed users to re-gender characters to simulate same-sex relationships. The gaming company quickly patched the bug, sparking a wave of flames.

Several online campaigns urged the company to incorporate same-sex marriage  into the game. One such campaign is Miiquality; launched by Tye Marini, a gay 23-year-old Nintendo enthusiast from Arizona.

Marini, who is currently planning his own real-life gay marriage, told the Associated Press, "I want to be able to marry my real-life fiancé's Mii, but I can't do that." As a result, he's missed out on exclusive game content.

Nintendo made the statement that they "never intended to make any form of social commentary with the launch of Tomodachi Life."

The real-life simulation game, available on the Nintendo 3DS, lets Mii avatars act out normal situations—from going to theme parks to getting married—and allows for personalization through adding voices and personalities.

"The relationship options in the game represent a playful alternate world rather than a real-life simulation," Nintendo said in the statement. "We hope that all of our fans will see that Tomodachi Life was intended to be a whimsical and quirky game, and that we were absolutely not trying to provide social commentary."

The ability to be able to express one's identity in a safe and comfortable environment, whether among peers or behind a computer screen, has defined the gay-rights movement, and same-sex marriage is intertwined with that. Several other major companies have allowed users full expression of their self-identity, such as Facebook's gender-neutral profile options. A game that mimics the real world should allow just that.

Controversy over not allowing same-sex marriage in the game can be rooted from the localization of the game itself and the cultural divide it provides -- which is currently only available in Japan where gay marriage is not legal.

Several American-made roleplaying games, such as those in The Sims and The Elder Scrolls series, allow for same-sex marriage. Other games, such as The Last of Us and Grand Theft Auto IV, include gay characters.

If Nintendo allowed same-sex marriage in the game, even if it resulted in a backlash among anti-gay activists, that would only help the game gain more exposure and wouldn't prevent the company from making a sizable profit.

"We have heard and thoughtfully considered all the responses," Nintendo told the Associated Press in light of the #Miiquality campaign.

Nintendo released a formal apology on Friday, saying, "We apologize for disappointing many people by failing to include same-sex relationships in Tomodachi Life." The company went on to say that while "it is not possible for us to change this game's design," they do pledge that if they create another installment in the series, they will "strive to design a game-play experience from the ground up that is more inclusive, and better represents all players."

Popular in Japan—having sold 1.83 million copies, according to the Associated Press—Tomodachi Life will be available in North America and Europe on June 6.

Comic book fans are difficult to please. There are several iterations of characters spanning decades of epic tales that no single story can cover. This fact doesn’t stop the criticism from fans that complain about the depiction of a given universe in a comic book film. Perhaps this is the reason that spoilers are considered acceptable for comic book films: by unearthing all of the imperfections, fans can influence studios to avoid the pitfalls of comic book film disasters such as R.I.P.D., Catwoman, Superman IV, Green Lantern, Fantastic Four, and many other atrocious films adaptations. A commendable goal that sometimes pay dividends.

Ninja Turtles, the film remake of the iconic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, was widely rumored to feature the reptilian heroes as aliens rather than the original story of a radioactive mutagen creating their humanoid figures. Most pundits believed this direction would have been a horrible mistake which likely led to a change of heart by Bay and Paramount Pictures.


Thanks to the reaction of fans, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are mutants once again (although created by the Shredder; a complaint for a different day)!

Spoilers can serve the purpose of improving films but we must also consider the opposite effect - what if something really amazing was spoiled and the studio was forced to take a different direction because of the leak?

In the case of The Hateful Eight, Quentin Tarantino immediately halted all work on the film after a draft of the entire script was leaked to the public in January 2014. A live reading of the revised script by the intended cast was performed in April 2014 so perhaps Tarantino will continue the project, but this is clearly worst case scenario for a leak gone awry.

Studios that produce comic book films have gone out of their way to avoid heavy spoilers by doing a lot of the heavy lifting themselves. For example, Columbia Pictures announced plans to produce Amazing Spider Man 3, Amazing Spider Man 4, a Sinister Six spin off, and a Venom-Carnage spin off before Amazing Spider Man 2 was released. These announcements serve the purpose of gauging reaction from key demographics, and minimizing the impact of leaks that are sure to come. This tends to shift the opinions of fans before films are available for public consumption which could drastically affect what stays in the film and what gets cut (*cough* Mary Jane *cough*). It’s a double edged sword that we should keep in mind going forward.

Perhaps most shocking is the fact that we no longer seem satisfied to simply experience comic book films. We squeeze out every detail possible before release just to see if what’s on screen matches what we imagine in our heads. What’s wrong with waiting to learn Star Wars: Episode VII will feature former Star Wars cast members near the release date in December 2015? The Star Wars hype train won’t be out of coal by that time, but it will take several more leaks to maintain momentum which will basically tell us the plot of the entire film before we see it in theaters.

I’m not saying it’s wrong but maybe we shouldn’t want spoilers to become the new normal. Part of what makes these movie experiences so great is the unexpected. Movies are sometimes going to be horrible no matter how loud our collective voices are, but there’s no point in spoiling the details of a great film for ourselves. Perhaps the pendulum has swung too far. Now the best way to enjoy a movie intended for fanboys is not to be a fanboy at all.
