Jurassic Park Velociraptor Cage Could Be Yours

Posted by Jeff Penner - Monday, January 27, 2014

Are you ready to own a piece of cinema history?

News about Jurassic World, the long-awaited sequel to the 1993's Jurassic Park franchise, will start pouring onto your computer screens this year, leading up to its release on June 12th, 2015. The lovable Chris Pratt has signed on to star and "Theme Park Connection" in Orlando, FL, has made a surprise offering to celebrate the upcoming film.

Jurassic World will star Chris Pratt

An amazing ebay listing with impeccable marketing timing has got fans all aflutter. The listing is for the original Velociraptor crate from early in the film. Trying to recall the exact scene? The ebay listing itself describes it in detail:

This is the full size animal transport cage crate featured in the terrifying opening scene of the classic blockbuster movie!
This is the crate that housed the Velociraptor that attacked and killed the ill-fated "Gate Keeper" as Jurassic Park's Game Warden and workers attempted to move the Raptor into its permanent pen. Jurassic Park's opening sequence is without a doubt one of the most memorable scenes in the movie, and anyone who has seen Jurassic Park (and who hasn't?!) will instantly remember this incredible piece. In addition, the crate includes a full size Velociraptor prop!

You heard correctly, there is literally a life-size prop included. The nerd in me, however, has to point out that the movie got the size of the Velociraptor all wrong, and in reality the creature was less than half the size of the movie versions. In any case, the prop serves a staging purpose for the filmmaker but is not much use to the buyer. It comes plain white (check out the images here) so you can paint it any color you wish.

Guardians of the Galaxy Chris Pratt will star.
"He's gonna eat the goat?"
At time of this writing, the listed bid is at $50,000US. My personal bid was broken way back at $79, so I'm out of the running (until The Monopoly Man adopts me and then dies, leaving me all his money). The listing does concede "This set would make for an amazing restoration project," aka, the crate is beat to sh**, or as they put it, "these treasures will benefit from some attention and TLC." Additionally, you should own a truck or borrow one from a friend, as the item is "pick up only."

Personally, I would snap this up in a heartbeat; what a great conversation starter at parties. Clearly by that I mean I would convert the crate into a dining table or kitchen island, making it the center of my perpetually-Jurassic-Park-themed house parties.

So? Are there any takers out there up for this opportunity, considering I'm willing to put in $79 if you cover the remaining balance?

Chris Pratt Talks Jurassic World

Posted by Jeff Penner

Everybody's favorite new leading man, Chris Pratt is loud and proud about being in the new Jurassic Park sequel. He will play an ex-military officer clashing with a corporate scientist (what happens from there is up to your imagination for now).

Jurassic Park sequel Jurassic World

While promoting the awesome-looking-I-hope-it's-as-good-as-it-looks The Lego Movie, Pratt explained his excitement for being in Jurassic Park (is there anything better than a fanboy being in his or her dream role?).

“For me, Jurassic Park was really kind of my Star Wars, I lined up at the theatre to see it, I saw it opening night, I saw every sequel, I’ve seen it a whole bunch of times… for me that was my big movie, I think I was 13 or 14 when it came out, and so it’s a big deal for me to be any part of that, let alone this part I’m going to be playing. I’m thrilled about it.”

He continues:
Parks and Recreation star talks Jurassic World

“Everybody around the world knows that franchise. When you say Jurassic Park, no one is like, ‘What’s Jurassic Park?’ More people know Jurassic Park than just about anything. I’m thrilled.”

The movie is going to start filming this spring in Hawaii and comes out June 12th, 2015.

As fanboys and fangirls, do we think they can pull this franchise into a new series? I felt Jurassic Park III was a saving grace after The Lost World really screwed the pooch. Share your thoughts below!

As a longtime fan of Magic: The Gathering—I've been playing on and off since 1994—I'm excited to post about the game here on Fanboys Anonymous. I'm largely a kitchen-table player who occasionally plays Draft or Sealed, so my posts will be aimed more toward the casual audience than die-hard Constructed players. That said, let's dig right into the new set!

MtG expansion Theros block card spoilers
Wizards of the Coast has published a full spoiler and release notes for Born of the Gods, the second set in the Theros block. It retains the previous set's flavor focus on Greek mythology and mechanical focus on enchantments. In addition to three returning mechanics from Theros, it has two new mechanics: Inspired and Tribute.

Magic the Gathering blue creature Inspired token generator
Inspired is a new ability word found on permanents, although only creatures have it thus far. A permanent with Inspired has some beneficial ability that triggers whenever it becomes untapped. While this is usually automatic, you may be required to pay a mana cost. For example, when Aerie Worshippers becomes untapped, you may pay one blue and two colorless mana to put a 2/2 flying Bird token into play.

The Inspired creatures in Born of the Gods vary widely in their usefulness. They're tricky to employ because unless your deck is engineered to tap your own creatures, you'll probably have to attack with the Inspired creature in order to gain its benefits, which risks getting your creature killed by blockers or hit by spells like Azorius Charm or Divine Verdict. Fortunately for Limited players, there's a cycle of common creature-tapping Auras you can use for—ahem—Inspiration.

Magic the Gathering black creature Tribute flier
Tribute is a new creature keyword. When you cast a creature with Tribute, your opponent can "pay tribute" by putting a number of +1/+1 counters on the creature. If the opponent doesn't do so, that triggers some other beneficial effect instead. For example, unless your opponent puts two +1/+1 counters on your Shrike Harpy, that opponent has to sacrifice a creature.

Overall, the creatures with Tribute appear relatively weak. While each of a Tribute creature's two modes is usually slightly above the curve, your opponent chooses which mode applies; this means that in practice, such creatures can't be played to their best effect. Worse, some modes aren't above the curve in the first place; for instance, if your opponent pays the tribute for Shrike Harpy, all you get is a 4/4 flier for 3BB. As a result, these creatures aren't likely to see Constructed play. They look like solid beaters in Limited, but even there they can't match the raw power of the Monstrous creatures in Theros.

Returning mechanics include Bestow, Heroic, and Scry. These function much as they did in Theros. Bestow remains Limited fodder, Heroic is still good for aggro combat tricks, and Scry provides a cost-efficient boost to card quality that's useful across the board.

Of all the new cards in Born of the Gods, I'm most excited by the following:

Magic the Gathering white instant devotion damage prevention
Acolyte's Reward: It's like a mono-white Boros Fury-Shield that also works on noncombat damage. This looks great for silly casual combos with Spitemare or Boros Reckoner. Its utility is limited mainly by the devotion requirement.

Glimpse the Sun God: I'd call this a strictly better Word of Binding, but a more recent point of comparison would be Gridlock. Adding Scry 1 on top of tapping out your opponent's creatures at instant speed should prove to be a winner.

Hero of Iroas: This awesome little dude reinforces Aura-based strategies, while its Heroic ability provides an automatic target for beneficial Auras. All this on top of a solid 2/2 body for 1W. What's not to like?

Arbiter of the Ideal: With a 4/5 body and flying, the Arbiter is one creature with Inspired that's likely to be able to attack each turn and survive. Its ability to drop a creature from the top of your library directly onto the battlefield is damned impressive, especially when you can use Scry to stack the deck!

Fated Infatuation: Possibly one of the best Clone variants ever printed! Limiting it to copying your own creatures is a significant restriction, but the bonus Scry 2 will be a tremendous boon in play.

Magic the Gathering blue creature Heroic card draw
Meletis Astronomer: I don't know if this card is actually any good—I suspect it isn't all that powerful in competitive play—but I'm an absolute sucker for a card draw engine. I want to play this in a deck packed with Flitterstep Eidolon, Nimbus Naiad, and Thassa's Emissary, turning the Astronomer into Voltron while drawing a steady stream of cards.

Drown in Sorrow: Another solid utility card with Scry 1 stapled on. This is a strictly better Infest, and Infest was already a solid card to begin with. I expect to see this one get a lot of play.

Fate Unraveler: This is a splashable Underworld Dreams attached to a solid 3/4 body. It's a bit more vulnerable to removal due to being an enchantment creature but is nonetheless a viable threat.

Servant of Tymaret: Another playable Inspire card, the Servant can attack freely with the knowledge that you can regenerate it. More importantly, it's an intimidating blocker. A creature that regenerates becomes tapped, which may discourage your opponent from attacking into the Servant.

Magic the Gathering red enchantment creature Bestow firebreathing
Everflame Eidolon: Could it be—a playable Bestow creature? Like all Bestow creatures, its printed power and toughness are too low to be terribly useful in the late game, but firebreathing gives it the potential to swing for a whole lot of damage, especially after a board wipe when your opponent doesn't have any blockers on the table.

Scouring Sands: This looks like a great way to deal with decks full of tokens or quirky 1-toughness utility creatures, or to clean up some almost-dead creatures after a big engagement. The ability as written is unique (like a strictly better Sandstorm or Simoon), and would be worthwhile even without the Scry 1.

Stormcaller of Keranos: This is the first repeatable Scry ability we've ever seen, which makes it worth a closer look! It should also combo nicely with Flamespeaker Adept.

Hero of Leina Tower: This could be the strongest Heroic creature yet, growing more and more powerful in the late game. It has great synergy with cheap spells that protect against removal (Ranger's Guile), offer evasion (Rancor), or allow the Hero to fight another creature (Mutant's Prey).

Magic the Gathering green sorcery pump card draw
Hunter's Prowess: A potentially backbreaking late-game play. Yes, you have to play around removal and clear an opening through your opponent's defenses, but if it works, you'll dish out massive damage and draw a metric fuckton of cards.

Satyr Wayfinder: This looks like a fun enabler for self-mill decks. A 1/1, a land in hand, and three cards in the graveyard to pump Boneyard Wurm or to cast for their flashback costs? Yes, please!

Reap What Is Sown: This could be the best Heroic enabler around, short of playing Gigadrowse. It's generally better than Seeds of Strength and strictly better than Common Bond, and hitting three Heroic triggers should be enormously effective—assuming you can keep three Heroic creatures alive on the table.

Siren of the Silent Song: As a cheap flier with Inspired, this stands a good chance of successfully attacking and forcing your opponents to discard. The extra mill should give a little more oomph to blue-black Mortivore decks.

Magic players, what do you think of my card choices—are they brilliant or moronic? Make your feelings known by posting in the comments section below!

Quentin Tarantino's New Movie The Hateful Eight Gets Leaked

Posted by Anonymous - Sunday, January 26, 2014

Quentin Tarantino, the infamous director of movies such as Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill Volumes 1 and 2, Reservoir Dogs, and Django Unchained, announced on January 20 that the first draft of his next movie had been leaked.

IGN reported that Tarantino gave copies of the draft to six people: three writers and three actors he had worked with on his previous movies. The movie, called The Hateful Eight, was to be another western. According to Deadline, Tarantino said that:

"I'm very, very depressed, I finished a script, a first draft, and I didn't mean to shoot it until next winter, a year from now. I gave it to six people, and apparently it's gotten out today… I am not talking out of both sides of my mouth because I do like the fact that everyone eventually posts it, gets it and reviews it on the net. Frankly, I wouldn't want it any other way. I like the fact that people like my shit, and that they go out of their way to find it and read it. But I gave it to six motherfucking people!"

Director Quentin Tarantino publicity still photo

Furthermore, Tarantino states that he won't shoot the movie if it's already out. Instead, he plans to publish it and sell it as a book. He says that if he can't trust anyone with it, then he has no desire to make it into a movie. Tarantino first grew suspicious that the script had been leaked when agents began calling to ask for their clients to play in the movie. The people he think leaked the script are the agents of two actors—Michael Madsen from Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill and Bruce Dern from Django Unchained.

No problems here, Fanboys and Fangirls! Due to the ingenuity of Tarantino, he has more scripts and ideas in his mind. So, no worries.

Except, of course, the script is still spreading around Hollywood as we speak. On January 27th, The Telegraph posted that the script is moving from one agent to the next. Apparently the movie is about the events experienced by two bounty hunters, who would have been played by none other than Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Madsen.

Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction Jules Winfield The actor Michael Madsen from Reservoir Dogs a.k.a. Mr Blonde

Still, the movie will not be shot and, as Tarantino previously told Deadline, the script will be published as a book instead.

Tell us what you think, Fanboys and Fangirls! Is it OK to leak the great work of Tarantino and cause such trouble?

activision blizzard entertainment diablo 3 reaper of souls malthael world of warcraft lords of draemor blackhand gul'dan rexxar heroes of the storm raynor illidan hearthstone orc dwarfYear in, year out, Blizzard Entertainment has something to offer. Usually tied to the Trinity of Holy Franchises, this upcoming year could make (again) or break the company. The worlds of Diablo, Starcraft and Warcraft will have significant releases in 2014, but there is a lot of skepticism involved (mostly from gamers) as Blizzard simply dishes out "more better" expansions and little innovative concepts. Looks like major steps were taken to make sure the calendar remains hot for the entire year.

There are four objects of gaming desire to look upon, and the first one is a cool little gem called Hearthstone.

blizzard hearthstone card game

I write this article under the assumption that you may be a Blizzard fan—though not necessarily a connoisseur—so you can tell by the name that it is indeed a Warcraft game. Perhaps as much Warcraft-based as a Star Wars-themed Monopoly game is based on a galaxy far, far away, Hearthstone is an interesting and extremely simple gameplay experience. It is a card game not unlike Magic: The Gathering, but with your favorite Warcraft heroes, spells, and all. Ultimately, it's number strategy and a bit of luck. I have never been one for this style, but the game actually had me hooked from the first few minutes. There's something addictive about leveling up… just wait until it leaves the beta stage.

blizzard world of warcraft lord of draenor the red world shadowmoon valleyI will continue to strike the Warcraft key and talk (as briefly as possible) about Warlords Of Draenor. This will probably be the final expansion for World Of Warcraft, and it explores orc characters of lore past. Storywise, it may fit just right, as games in the Warcraft universe seem to have an "anything goes" approach. As far as gameplay, graphics, et al, expect some good improvements, as every release of WoW has been a step up from the previous. The level cap is now 100 (predictably), and players have access to new maps, more class abilities, more of this, more of that. We can expect a few innovations as well, like the garrisons and challenge modes. I end this seemingly dreary paragraph of Warcraft nihilism by announcing that my desktop picture is now the Warlords Of Draenor wallpaper.

blizzard hearthstone gameplay pack card game magic
The biggest disappointment of the year 2012 was Brazil not winning the Olympic gold medal in soccer. The second one was Diablo 3. It was a good game, I assure you. If you haven't played it, try it out even if it makes you click-sick. The achievements were a healthy addition to a repetitive game. I won't leave the disappointment stone unturned though. Perhaps because Diablo 2 was such a phenomenon, the expectations surrounding its sequel was megalithic. Apart from all the good stuff, there were some downsides and bad calls from Blizzard, such as the auction house and the unrealistic inflation of items and real-world money you could buy the items with. (On a side note, Blizzard is trying again with Hearthstone—you may purchase packs with a credit card.) I didn't go with the mainstream of criticism, but I did find a terrible pet peeve in forced internet connection for single player. So why am I writing about Diablo 3's inferiority complex?

blizzard diablo 3 reaper of souls malthael game still
Reaper of Souls has a darker, more sinister feel than before.
There is an extremely positive expansion on its way. Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls should be available in late March 2014 and will add Act V, improve gameplay aspects, raise the level cap, and enhance features that were considered half-assed, given that Diablo 3 was nearly 5 years in the making. There will be new game modes, such as "adventure mode," and they seem to be very promising indeed. I still pray for the internet connection copyright nuisance to be abolished.

Those are some promising releases for such a huge fan base. Great or not, Blizzard has catered to them well, but wait! That's not all. There is a very popular genre of game to be explored—so popular, in fact, that you may participate in tournaments in the U.S. and obtain an athlete visa if you're that good—MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena)!

blizzard diablo 3 reaper of souls character class crusader
Diablo 3's new class: Crusader

blizzard hearthstone gameplay game pieces cards mage
Extremely easy and addictive: Hearthstone.
Heroes Of The Storm is Blizzard's ironic, but sincere, take on the category. Originally developed by Warcraft 3 enthusiasts and based on a map in the game itself, Defense of the Ancients inaugurated the style and League of Legends took the world by storm. Other clones have appeared, such as Heroes of Newerth, so it would be only natural that Blizzard would make an attempt at a genre that they accidentally created.

How many fans will get into this type of game? How many current MOBA players will at least temporarily leave their haven of choice for a chance at Blizzard's world of interconnecting franchises? That's right, you can play as heroes from all three best-selling household titles. Imagine Diablo, Kerrigan and Arthas versus Tyrael, Raynor and Illidan. That has to count for something. It is currently in beta if you would like to test-drive the game.

So ends my inspection of what's to come from Blizzard in the following days. Am I excited? Completely. Let us not forget about the impending Starcraft 2 expansion, but perhaps that will be in 2015. Is anyone else excited? Comment! Let me know how many people are psyched about Blizzard's near future!

Perhaps you're a young excited artist that wishes to develop and create a masterpiece in the strange and wonderful genre of anime! You may think to yourself, "Where do I even start?" Well, sit back, relax, and enjoy my easy step-by-step guide on how to make a successful anime.

Step One: Genre
First things first: We need to decide what genre of anime are we going to go with. Based off history, the easiest path to success is violence! Between oversaturated titles like Dragonball Z, Naruto, and One Piece, we learn that it's the easiest route. But not only are these titles violent, they're ridiculously flashy and over-the-top, leaving you wondering, "Why the fuck would they even do that?" So remember to fill your show with anger, blood, and a whole bunch of over-the-top, nonsensical BS.

Step Two: Art Style
Now that we have our genre, we just need to decide what type of art style we're going to go with. First off, all female characters—even though they're Asian—need to have HUGE boobs. Doesn't matter if they're 14, that girl gets tits the size of her head.

Next, your cast needs really bright colors. It doesn't matter if they're a stealthy ninja or a muscular serious warrior; they need to stick out with bright, in-your-face colors! But why stop there? Perhaps your skilful warriors aren't being taken seriously—they will when you give them huge spikey hair!

Remember: sex, bright colors, and stupid hair styles make your characters connect with 13-year-old weaboos waiting to hand their cash over!

Step Three: The Characters
Now this is the most important step, as your characters make the show what it is. With that said, there is a simple formula to follow to ensure that your anime reaches the pinnacle of success.

Main Character: First off, no character can be beloved without tragedy in their life. If you planned for your lead to have parents and a stable home life, think again! Simply by having your main character's life fall to crap, their struggles and triumphs connect with your audience throughout the duration of your show. Also, an oversized weapon helps…

Love Interest: Of course we know she's going to have giant cans, but your main character's love interest has to have the following. Timidity is a must for her. She can't be confident, and this particular quality can result in getting her into trouble, therefore giving the main character many occasions to run to her rescue. She must blush constantly; it doesn't matter if she's mildly bumped into, waved to, or spoken to in general conversation. This bitch has to blush! Only then will your fan base begin to churn out a whole bunch of badly-written fan fiction about her and the hero.

Download episodes of Naruto Shippuden
Look at this moody jackass, that right there, is money! $$$
The Douchey-But-Kinda-Your-Ally Dude: You've seen it all before. He's quiet, he's grumpy, and he's your main character's biggest rival. Even though he's a quiet asshole, the people will love him. His misunderstood persona will allow all the misfits of your fan base to connect with him, to write yaoi involving him and the main character, and to celebrate when he finally teams up with the "good guys" to defeat their foe.

The Enemy: There are many roads you can go down for the enemy. But in the end, he needs to be all-powerful, constantly getting the upper hand so that you can drag your series out just that little bit longer. And of course, have a league of sub-villains that will be a roadblock for our hero up until the end.

Step Four: Filler
For your anime to reach the pinnacle of success, it needs to pull in revenue. Unfortunately, if you just got to the point of the show, then it would be over in a flash. By adding side stories about helping small children, kittens, and elderly ladies, you can drag your series out for another 50 episodes! You hear the saying, "quality over quantity." Welp, for success it's cash over good story development.

Step Five: Vic Fucking Mignogna
Fullmetal Alchemist English Dub DownloadI mean really, who else is going to voice your protagonist? This guy is Edward Elric! Not just that, you've got a double whammy; given his past playing such characters as Broly, he can give you a great villain too. Why pay multiple voice actors when you can just overwork one right?

So that ends my guide on how to create a successful anime that will put cash in your pocket! I hope it was an enjoyable read for you. Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below. If you enjoy anime, then check out Addicted to Anime. We have a great community and a monthly podcast.

Google Glass is only a year old and has not even been released to the general consumer, yet some of its early users—who have paid $1,500 to be part of the Glass Explorer program—have already received some major backfire for wearing the new technology. For one Google Glass wearer, his Saturday night was cut short when he was yanked from a movie theater and interrogated under suspicion that he was recording the film.

Business Insider confirmed the story submitted by an anonymous writer  to The Gadgeteer earlier this week that had many people talking.

In Columbus, Ohio, on January 18, a man was pulled out of the 7:45 p.m. showing of Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit at the AMC Theater at Easton Town Center. He was interrogated for two hours by Homeland Security agents and local authorities who believed he was recording the film via his Google Glass.

Google Glass is a wearable voice-activated Android device that features a thumbnail-sized transparent display over the right eye. It is capable of taking photographs and video as well as giving directions and performing many of the features of iPhone's Siri.

The unnamed man, who said he wore the glasses during the film because he had prescription lenses on it, had the device turned off while he was inside the theater.

The suspicion that the device was being used to record the movie prompted an investigation by the Motion Picture Association of America representatives who were on site and contacted the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees movie theft.

"About an hour into the movie, a guy comes near my seat, shoves a badge that had some sort of shield on it, yanks the Google Glass off my face and says 'follow me outside immediately,'" the anonymous man wrote to The Gadgeteer.

Authorities searched the man and questioned where he worked, who he worked for, why was he recording, where he got the device, and how much was he being paid to record the movie. He repeatedly told the agents that the Glass had a USB port and insisted that they connect it to a computer to prove that he was not recording the film.

Once authorities finally plugged the device into a computer, they found no evidence of recording. He was released after being detained for three and a half hours and received four free movie passes.

AMC gave this statement to Business Insider:
Movie theft is something we take very seriously, and our theater managers contact the Motion Picture Association of America anytime it's suspected that someone may be illegally recording content on screen. While we're huge fans of technology and innovation, wearing the device that has the capability to record video is not appropriate at the movie theatre. At AMC Easton 30 last weekend, a guest was questioned for possible movie theft after he was identified wearing a recording device during a film. The presence of this recording device prompted an investigation by the MPAA, which was on site. The MPAA then contacted Homeland Security, which oversees movie theft. The investigation determined the guest was not recording content.
The man, who chose to remain anonymous, said in an interview with a local Ohio newspaper, The Dispatch, that he realized "it's stupid to have a device with a camera pointed at the screen. But I didn't even think of it, because I don't use Google Glass to record other people."

This begs the question: How far can technology go before more stories like this pop up? Let us know what you think about this story in the comment section below.

Deathlok Added to Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Posted by Jeff Penner - Thursday, January 23, 2014

Marvel Comics' cyborg killing machine Deathlok is, surprisingly, heading to television thanks to Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The character has never been realized on screen before and has also had a tough time in comics, despite popularity in the '90s. The character also happens to be 40 years old this year.

Deathlok played by J August Richards Mike Peterson

Agent Mike Peterson, played by J. August Richards on the show, will become the cybernetic soldier. In the show, Deathlok/Peterson will have use of a robotic eye that can see through walls and will have increased strength and speed.

No word on whether he will appear as grimly as he does on paper (the character's body is completely covered, but his visible face looks to be in constant decay), or if he will be a good guy or an enemy (most likely enemy-turned-good-guy).

On the role, Richards says, "If you would have asked when I was nine years old what I wanted to be, I would have said a superhero, and I'm so excited to be one now as an adult on TV!"

Sounds like a fanboy to me.

What do you think? Does Deathlok fit into the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Should he appear in a movie, either his own or as a guest?

Edgar Wright's Ant-Man film is one of my most anticipated movies of 2015, which may seem weird with the huge slate of films releasing that year.

Michael Douglas Hank Pym Marvel Movies

The even better news? I won't have to wait as long to see it! The movie just got a bump in schedule.

Originally announced as a July 31 release, the movie will now come out July 17, 2015, according to Marvel.com (they're probably a reliable source on the subject).
Comic Book Superhero movie Marvel Comics
The film is set to be an action/comedy, and they cast brilliantly, handing off the lead role of Scott Lang/Ant-Man to the beloved Paul Rudd. The change from a Hank Pym-centric storyline to a Scott Lang one makes sense, considering the genre. Hank was never really the jokester, and the last thing we need reporters researching the character to do is find the issue in which he hits his wife. So a comedy it is!

Just out of curiosity, however, is anyone kind of irked about the comedic slant this movie will be taking, considering the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is pretty realistic (all things considered)?

When Disney acquired Star Wars last year, my first thought was an animation extension. How awesome would it be if fans got what they wanted: a Star Wars cartoon taking place around the Episode IV–VI characters? Isn't that what most of us really care about? I know I do. I also know that that's a close-minded view, so no need to point that out.

Jon Lasseter Pixar Star Wars Lucasfilm

Rumor over at latino-review.com is that Pixar has officially been given the go-ahead on their own Star Wars film. The expectations on all SW-related products have been dizzying this past year: Episode VII, Rebels TV series, and a whole lot more.

I was never a huge fan of The Clone Wars Animated Series; I gave it a try, but I personally find it very hard to care about that era. They really messed up the history and mythology, but the episodes I did watch were at least entertaining. In any case, I'm up for a fresh start with not only a smoother style of animation but also far better characterization than any single one of the prequels had. Oh, and I sure hope there are plenty of episodes that deal with trade embargoes. Those are exciting as hell. Kids love them, too.

Not only did WALL-E show us what Pixar can do with robots and space, but who didn't think of this years ago at the Buzz Lightyear opening sequence to Toy Story 2? If this pans out, a whole new film series could be in the works here.

What say you? Are you a hardcore Clone Wars fan who hates the idea?

This March, Marvel's return to animated format explodes onto the small screen with the exciting new Marvel Avengers Confidential: Black Widow & Punisher!

Punisher and Black Widow team up against Leviathan in marvel avengers confidential animated movie
"Ha! Your Tango is no match for my Waltz..."
After helping Tony Stark in Iron Man: Rise of Technovore (then voiced by Norman Reedus), untypically generous for ol' Frank, Punisher is now united with Black Widow and the Avengers under S.H.I.E.L.D and Nick Fury's command. As you can see, he's looking massively badass in comparison with his first appearance in the latest crop of Marvel animated movies.

"Espionage & Punishment: the novel Dostoyevsky wishes he wrote."
When Punisher (Brian Bloom, Once Upon A Time In America) is arrested by S.H.I.E.L.D agent Black Widow (Jennifer Carpenter of Dexter) for interfering with a mission, Nick Fury employs him to work with Natasha in preventing global terrorist organization Leviathan from selling S.H.I.E.L.D technology and weaponry on the black market.

Avengers Confidential is directed by Kenichi Shimizu (key animator on the aforementioned Iron Man movie) and written for the screen by Mitsutaka Hiroa (X-Men series). It will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray this March 25th.

Until then, have some trailer #1…

Sound off, Fanboys! Will you be picking this movie up? I sure as hell will, so maybe stay posted, and I'll knock out a review in a few months' time if you're not sold on it just yet. Thanks for reading, and feel free to comment below!

Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious) has been all over the Internet lately, and not just for being hot; she was famously cast as DC's Amazon warrior Wonder Woman. Fans cried foul, or rather "too thin!" to which Gadot calmly responded with a stern "chill out, I'm working out for the role." Her calm reply surprisingly shut everyone up, and now we move forward to the actual production of the films.

Batman vs. Superman Movie Poster
Lasso of Truth to my neck? I approve.
Variety magazine now confirms they know the future of her role as Princess Diana. They say she has she has signed a three-picture deal with Warner Bros. and will "play the role in not only the upcoming 'Batman-Superman' flick, but in a 'Justice League' movie and a 'Wonder Woman' standalone film."

With the "Batman/Superman" movie recently pushed back to 2016, this shows more and more that DC/WB are taking a bit more time in their planning. Matching Marvel's cinematic success is not an easy goal, and if DC does this right, with a crossover plan involving their already popular TV series such as Arrow and upcoming The Flash, they might have a chance of pulling at least something off.

DC has done an amazing job dominating the animated DVD market with their adult-rated releases (come on, Marvel, what's the problem?); let's hope they assign writers like Paul Dini and Bruce Timm to their cinematic universe.

The likeness is uncanny.
What are your initial thoughts? Still on the fence with her cast in the first place? Wary as I am with DC/WB's ability to handle this project at all?

On January 3, 2014, news broke that Greg Martin, the artist behind such seminal works of video game cover art as Sonic the Hedgehog, Bomberman, Pac-Man, and others, had passed away in May of 2013. Bronty (the nickname of the person who posted the message on the Nintendo Age forum), stated that Martin was:
"Incredibly friendly and an excellent conversationalist... He had a gift for conversation and for making you comfortable in speaking with him. We shared an appreciation for many illustrators, comic artists, and fine artists and would pretty much discuss them endlessly on the phone. I admired his deep knowledge of artists and illustrators."
Many fans will recognize Martin's work from his '90s video game cover art. Martin created all of the Sonic covers of the '90s and was responsible for giving Sonic and Tails their distinctive features. A sample of his work is posted below, more of which can be found at the Nintendo Age Forum:

Martin began his career at the Hanna-Barbera cartoon studio. He worked on features such as The Flintstones, The Jetsons, and Duck Tales. After his career at Hanna-Barbera, Martin moved on to draw for Nintendo and Sega. At that point in time, video games were still 16-bit and the artwork was still airbrushed rather than digitally rendered, as shown to the right and below:

At the height of 16-bit consoles, there were so many game covers with Greg Martin's signature style that it is safe to say my generation took his work for granted. For the first time, many players identified with the unmistakably colorful styles of Nintendo and Sega characters. If there was one thing these rival companies had in common, it was the increased shelf life a good game cover could give a release. Greg Martin may not have been celebrated among gamers at the time, but it is safe to say that Martin was responsible for the golden age of video game art.

Looking at his work above, we can see the finer details of the effort he took in creating fully-fleshed characters in an era with no digital equipment to photoshop or play around with. Martin did everything by hand and only used slight airbrushing. Martin is the reason that video games of the '90s are remembered so vividly and ingrained in our memories. Rest assured he is one of the cornerstones of the video game industry. We at Fanboys Anonymous lament his passing.

You may share your memories about Martin's works of art and what you think about them below.
