Week in Geek #15: Henry Cavill No Longer Superman? and More

Posted by Anthony Mango Saturday, September 15, 2018
Welcome to another edition of WEEK IN GEEK here at Fanboys Anonymous—a rundown of some of the events, news and stories that went down over the past few days in the geek culture spectrum.

This week in geek culture Fanboys Anonymous nerd recap

Here are some of the topics I felt like voicing my opinions about:

Captain Britain and the Black Knight

Guy Ritchie is supposedly taking on this project. I know virtually nothing about this character's history, but I'm down for more Marvel, so I'll watch it, for sure. Let's see what happens with his Aladdin movie, though, first...

Said Taghmaoui Potentially Cast as Bond 25 Villain

He did well with what little he was given in Wonder Woman. If he's been looked at for the villain, I'm game.

Henry Cavill No Longer Superman?

This SUUUUUUUCKS if it is true. He was an amazing Superman and just wasn't given the best material to work with. If they let him go, it's even more proof that Warner Bros and DC have no idea what they're doing, are just throwing random ideas at the wall, and are abandoning this universe of connected films and going back to the more haphazard "nothing is connected, because we can't be bothered to vet the right people and do a good job like Marvel" methodology that films have always had before, which, frankly, isn't as entertaining in the long run. People want to see Superman and Batman and such together. It would be one thing if the movies were all great, but it was just a struggle of trying to get them connected. No. This has suffered from poor planning from the start and the production studio tampering. Justice League would have had some problems, for sure, if it were 100% Zack Snyder's baby, but at least it would have been a true film instead of a mixture of multiple films.

Also, Michael B. Jordan is stunt casting if they go with him. That's ENTIRELY just to get people to buzz about a black Superman and a popular actor. It isn't that he'd be right for the role. Don't get me wrong, Michael B. Jordan is one hell of an actor, but he's not the right fit for Superman. I don't want Tom Hanks for Superman, either, despite how good of an actor he is. Henry Cavill isn't the one and only person who could play Superman, but he did pull off the part. Let the guy get his true film. Recast Lois Lane, instead.

Iron Fist

So...it took me a while, but I finished Iron Fist. I didn't feel like doing a podcast about it. Just wanted to add that onto this, because people might not be aware of the review that's already posted.
