Fanboys Anonymous Team Members are GETTING MARRIED!

Posted by Anthony Mango - Wednesday, September 9, 2020

When I started Fanboys Anonymous back in October 2012, the aspiring goal was to create a platform for myself, my friends and fellow geeks alike to share their opinions about movies, television, video games, comics and anything else under the "nerd" spectrum. I've long thought that this site has immense potential that we haven't tapped into even 1% of, and there's no telling if, when or how any of those dreams will be realized.

However, as much as I feel Fanboys Anonymous has the ability to grow in all sorts of ways, I never would have imagined it would be the catalyst for an even more important part of my life: my future wife.

To let everyone in on some things behind the curtain who weren't already aware over time, part of my recruitment for the team was to post on LinkedIn threads of different types asking if anyone in these related fields would be interested in joining the site to write about whatever they're passionate about. One of those interested parties was Caroline, whom you've all heard on various podcasts and read articles from over the years.

Immediately, this connection was formed that was unlike any other and it grew into something much more beautiful than could ever be dreamed.

All these years later, I can now officially announce that as of this past Sunday, September 6, 2020, Caroline and I are ENGAGED.

Legit, true, 100% real engaged to be husband and wife. This is no advertisement ploy, marketing scheme, fan fiction gotcha or anything of the sort. This is real, and we couldn't be happier to let the readers know about this and share some of our happiness!

I want to thank everyone who has ever helped support Fanboys Anonymous over the years, in any fashion, for giving us this platform. Without this brand leading us to each other, there's no telling if we would have ever met at all, let alone fallen in love and taken the journey we've had to this point and heading into the future.

No matter what is going on with this site and the world around us, Fanboys Anonymous will never cease to be its own special corner of A Mango Tree. THANK YOU!

Legends of the Hidden Temple Cosplay at New York Comic Con 2015

Posted by Anthony Mango - Monday, October 12, 2015

Fanboys Anonymous would like to thank TV Store Online for being one of our sponsors for New York Comic Con 2015, providing us with some awesome Legends of the Hidden Temple shirts so our people not only could find each other easier in the sea of people on the busiest day of the convention but also could take some group photos and have some fun during our down time.

Halloween is coming up, and if you're looking for something to spice up your costume, TV Store Online has so much apparel to choose from in the geek culture spectrum, including TV shows, movies, music, comics, games and more.

If you want to pick up one of these shirts specifically, you can find them here. My suggestion: pick the Silver Snakes. I could use another teammate to earn me a pendant so those temple guards don't get us!

Stay tuned for more updates, photos, videos and so on from New York Comic Con 2015 and the Fanboys Anonymous team.

Check Out the Fanboys Anonymous Panel at Too Many Games 2015

Posted by Fanboys Anonymous - Thursday, June 11, 2015

Fanboys Anonymous will once again be coming to the Too Many Games convention, but this time around, instead of just having a table, we will be presenting a special panel!

Join us on June 26, 2015 from 6:50 pm–7:40 pm at Panel 3 for Fanboys Anonymous: Addicted to Geek Culture where we will be discussing everything from the stigma of the word "fanboy" to the things that we're personally obsessed with, how addictive fandom in general can be, and the positives and negatives of having such a devoted fan base behind the things we love.

There will be time for a Q&A session where you can speak your mind as well as pick our brains about anything you want!

Description: TooManyGames is the longest running gaming convention in the Philadelphia area and is held every June at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center. The 2015 TooManyGames convention will be held June 26 through 28. In 2014 attendance numbered over 5,000 attendees. Due to a strong guest list, increased sponsorships, ticket sales trends, and vendor response we are projecting 7,000 to 10,000 attendees in 2015.

History: TooManyGames (then known as the East Coast Gaming Expo) was formed in 2004 as an event focused on bringing classic gamers together to have a special occasion dedicated to classic game playing and collecting. TooManyGames' debut convention was held in September 2004 at the Inn at Reading in Reading, Pennsylvania with over 700 people attending to play, purchase, and enjoy classic video games.

In 2005, TooManyGames began expanding the show by including a large selection of classic and modern arcade games, incorporating more tournaments as well as hosting one of our region's first video game concerts. As TooManyGames has continued to grow and incorporate new features it has expanded from its original 5,000 square feet to now encompass over 100,000 square feet of the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center's convention space.

TooManyGames will continue to drive innovation and expansion with their convention through continuously making new partnerships with people and companies whose focus is on making gamers happy.
Some come out, see what the convention has to offer, pick up some games or artwork or whatever you're into and make sure not to miss our panel!

Mission Statement:

We want to put on a small, one day con in southern N.J. to have some fun with our geeky interests. What type of geek are you?

The word geek is a slang term originally used to describe eccentric or non-mainstream people, with different connotations ranging from "an expert or enthusiast" to "a person heavily interested in a hobby," with a general pejorative meaning of "a peculiar or otherwise dislikable person, especially one who is perceived to be overly intellectual." Although often considered as a pejorative, the term is also used self-referentially without malice or as a source of pride. Its meaning has evolved to connote "someone who is interested in a subject (usually intellectual or complex) for its own sake."

    Fanboys Anonymous One-Year Anniversary!

Posted by Fanboys Anonymous - Thursday, October 17, 2013

Fanboys Anonymous has just turned one year old and although the site is just a baby, it's grown up quite a bit!

Over the course of the past year, Fanboys has gone from being a germ of an idea living inside fellow A Mango Tree web branch Out on Limbs to surpassing it drastically.

The difference between our first month's performance and our current records is astonishing: an increase of 12,034%.

Our family here has expanded as well. Originally, the fanboys themselves consisted of about a dozen people, all friends of Anthony Mango, and we now brandish a roster of roughly 50 talented individuals from all over the globe and all walks of life. Fanboys Anonymous takes pride in showcasing perspectives from everyone out there, no matter who you are, where you're from or what you're a fan of. We are developing into a very rich community that welcomes you all to join in on the fun.

Unfortunately, we've suffered a significant setback with the loss of our YouTube channel, which at the time was doing spectacularly. There's a chance it may be resolved, but the likelihood of this happening depends entirely on Google (insert laugh here). If you'd like to continue supporting Fanboys Anonymous on this front, please subscribe to our backup channel @ www.youtube.com/fanboysanon which currently has not been set up with content or anything of the sort, but will most likely be our new channel going forward.

As we start another year for Fanboys, we have our eyes set on the prize with more vigor than ever.

A revamped logo is only the beginning. The site has gone through various tweaks and will continue to improve as time goes on.

In the coming year, Fanboys Anonymous will continue to reach out to our fellow geeks in the hopes of becoming the best possible central hub and your source for all the things we all like.

You will see tons of new segments for the site along with more video content, shows and podcasts. More interviews will be conducted. Stay tuned for everything from tournaments to fan fiction, tutorials, trivia, contests, commentary tracks and more!

We'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported us from inside the infrastructure to outside, readers and writers alike. This is a collective effort, getting stronger every minute.

If you want to stand up and share with us, hop on the Fanboys Anonymous train right now. This ride is just getting started!
