Week in Geek #160: Big Brother Season 23 First Impressions and More

Posted by Anthony Mango Tuesday, July 13, 2021

Welcome to another edition of WEEK IN GEEK here at Fanboys Anonymous—a rundown of some of the events, news and stories that went down over the past few days in the geek culture spectrum.

This week in geek culture Fanboys Anonymous nerd recap

Here are some of the topics I felt like voicing my opinions about:

Big Brother Season 23 First Impressions

I usually mentally block people off into 5 categories, which would be the following:

A) My favorites = Britini, Frenchie (although this is based on episode 1 and apparently, he's coming out to be kind of a scumbag after that, from what I've seen? If that's the case, you can bet he goes from A to E)

B) The ones I like and might like even more, but might fall down the ladder, too = Azah, Claire, Derek F, Derek X, Tiffany, Xavier

C) No opinion yet = Alyssa, Christian, Kyland, Sarah, Travis, Whitney

D) Not feeling them and I doubt my POV will change = Brent, Hannah

E) I absolutely dislike them = Nobody yet, thankfully...unless the Frenchie stuff is true. I'm judging this entirely based on just the first episode and nothing else as I haven't checked out the live feeds.

My shot in the dark prediction for who will win this season is Claire.

Hopes and Theories for Loki's Season Finale

Here's what I'm hoping to see:

  • A direct reference to Kang the Conqueror being behind things.
  • Loki and Sylvie have a happy ending of some sort.
  • Loki and Sylvie, along with Mobius and Hunter B-15, are now spearheading the TVA with a new directive to solve actual anomalies and not just police whatever bad agenda was behind all this.
  • Some kind of clarification about how the timeline is restored and how the multiverse plays into this, rather than some "IDK! Find out later, maybe!" cop out.
  • I'd love to see an appearance from Thor, but that's not happening.

Here's what I think will happen:

  • The main villain will end up just being another variant of Loki.
  • Everything will be kept ambiguous as to how this factors into the future of the MCU
  • There may be some sort of tease that Classic Loki is still alive.

The Dreamscapes of Justice League: A Motion Comic

Zack Snyder's storyboards for his original sequels to Justice League are being adapted into a motion comic. I'd love to check it out, even though I think the plot for that was all over the place and not necessarily good, as well as I'm not a fan of motion comics. But I love when projects like this are expanded upon, as I see no reason why these things can't exist in some fashion. I'd love to see an animated version of Tim Burton's Superman Lives, for instance, even though that thankfully was never actually made.
