Week in Geek #127: Loki Season 2, RIP Alex Trebeck and More

Posted by Anthony Mango Sunday, November 8, 2020

Welcome to another edition of WEEK IN GEEK here at Fanboys Anonymous—a rundown of some of the events, news and stories that went down over the past few days in the geek culture spectrum.

This week in geek culture Fanboys Anonymous nerd recap

Here are some of the topics I felt like voicing my opinions about:

Loki Renewed for Season 2

We haven't even seen season 1. Hell, I don't even know WHEN we're going to see it. But if it's that good that they're confident people will want a second season, then that's cool.

RIP Alex Trebeck

TV icon Alex Trebeck, host of Jeopardy, has passed away at age 80 from pancreatic cancer.

Awful news. I was never the biggest Jeopardy fan in the world where I watched it every day/week or anything, but it was one of those cultural institutions like Wheel of Fortune and Price is Right where I don't think there's anyone who dislikes that show. Trebeck was the host for so long that he was almost like a fixture of pop culture and not having him around like that anymore is yet another big loss from 2020.

The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 2

Chapter 10 wasn't as great as the previous episode, but it definitely had its moments. The Child eating the eggs was perpetually cute/funny. I enjoyed seeing Dave Filoni back as the X-Wing pilot giving Mando a break.

Thumbs up for the episode, but it felt a bit rushed. It was almost as if the episode was just getting started 3/4 of the way through and then had to skip to the end super fast.
