Week in Geek #123: GLOW Cancelled, Doctor Strange in Spider-Man 3 and More

Welcome to another edition of WEEK IN GEEK here at Fanboys Anonymous—a rundown of some of the events, news and stories that went down over the past few days in the geek culture spectrum.

This week in geek culture Fanboys Anonymous nerd recap

Here are some of the topics I felt like voicing my opinions about:

No Final Season of GLOW

This sucks. Netflix decided to go back on its renewal of a final season of GLOW and it won't be producing the fourth season. The show's just done, with no resolution. That's the worst way to go. In particular, it's a shame that we already know that was supposed to be the end, because that means there's no potential in another service picking it up. No other place would want to pay for ONE season of a show. Even if that were true, it would've been Netflix, so this is just doomed. Very, very disappointing.

Sister Act 3

There's going to be a Sister Act 3. That's awesome (in theory). The first is a classic that I really need to revisit, as I loved it as a kid. The second was...well...

But maybe the third would be great like the first one was, as far as I can remember.

Sarah Shahi as Isis in Black Adam

Supposedly, Sarah Shahi has been cast as Adrianna Tomaz, aka Isis, in the Black Adam film.

I'm not super duper familiar with Isis enough to be able to tell you any of her character traits or anything. However, I do know Sarah Shahi is a great actress who is gorgeous and I could totally see her pulling off the visual look of this character as well as holding her weight on the acting side.

In that regard, I'm totally down for this.

Doctor Strange in Spider-Man 3

More news about the idea that Spider-Verse is coming for the third Spider-Man film, as now, Benedict Cumberbatch is going to be in the film as Doctor Strange.

How are they going to have a film that is both about parallel dimensions and different versions of Peter Parker fighting villains like Electro from other universes, while also dealing with the plot of Peter on the run with people thinking he killed Quentin Beck?

Perhaps they've abandoned that story. Maybe, instead of telling the tale of how he deals with the repercussions of people knowing his secret identity and all, Peter spends the first few minutes of the film on the run and comes in contact with Doctor Strange. Then, he gets him to cast a spell where everyone forgets all this information, but in the process, it opens up the portals to the other dimensions.

That way, you don't have Mephisto taking away Mary Jane Watson's marriage to Peter, since we don't have MJ in the MCU (yes, I said it, we don't have MJ. Michelle Jones doesn't count as she's nothing at all like the character and has a different name).

I'd like a reference to how J. Jonah Jameson wanted to name Doctor Octopus Doctor Strange, but said the name was taken.
