Week in Geek #99: Let There Be Carnage, Delayed Release Dates and More

Posted by Anthony Mango Sunday, April 26, 2020
Welcome to another edition of WEEK IN GEEK here at Fanboys Anonymous—a rundown of some of the events, news and stories that went down over the past few days in the geek culture spectrum.

This week in geek culture Fanboys Anonymous nerd recap

Here are some of the topics I felt like voicing my opinions about:

A Death is Coming to GOTG Vol 3

When asked on a Q&A about whether or not someone will die in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, James Gunn said "Yes."

Of course, it's guaranteed at least someone will die in the movie. There will be plenty of aliens and goons and random characters who will die. Hundreds upon thousands have died in both movies. But, naturally, people are speculating on whether or not this will be a main character, like Yondu in Vol. 2.

I don't necessarily think that will happen, but if someone from the core group does die, I think it'll be Nebula. She doesn't have too much of an arc at this point now that she and Gamora had made up and Thanos is dead...other than restoring Gamora to her true self from #2, right? Maybe she dies in a self-sacrifice to save Gamora and prove how sisterly they really did become?

DC Delayed Release Dates

The Batman is now October 1, 2021 (damn it)

The Flash is somehow moving up from July 1, 2022 to June 3, 2022. That makes no sense, especially with all the Ezra Miller stuff that happened recently.

Shazam 2 is now November 4, 2022 instead of April 1.

No Time to Die = James Bond's Head?

Cary Fukunaga toyed with the idea of having No Time to Die go back to the torture scene of Spectre and have it be that the end of that film and most of this film were all in Bond's head. I would have HATED that. Then again, I don't know what their plans are for this movie. It could be a better alternative to what we're getting.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage

That's the title or the new Venom 2 film. It's pretty much perfect, considering the main villain. "Venom: Carnage" would have been weird. "Venom: Maximum Carnage" would have been a tad lazy to just bite the other title, and it would have somehow confused people who would have thought it had to be an exact retelling of that story. I dig this.

Westworld Renewed for Season 4

I still haven't caught up on season 3 yet, but I'm a huge fan of this show. To be fair, I'm more of a fan of season 1 than I am of what they gave us in season 2 and so far in 3 from what I've seen, but unless this goes too far off the rails, I'm going to see it through to the end.
