Week in Geek #86: Is Kenobi Cancelled or What? and More

Posted by Anthony Mango Saturday, January 25, 2020
Welcome to another edition of WEEK IN GEEK here at Fanboys Anonymous—a rundown of some of the events, news and stories that went down over the past few days in the geek culture spectrum.

This week in geek culture Fanboys Anonymous nerd recap

Here are some of the topics I felt like voicing my opinions about:

Obi-Wan Kenobi Series Cancelled...?

It's on hold. No, it isn't. No, it's cancelled entirely. No, it's just on a delay. Oh wait, it's an indefinite delay. WTF? I give up. If you can't figure out a way to do this story, it's even further proof this creative team doesn't know what they're doing.

Mega Man Live-Action Movie in the Works

Matt Tomlin, who co-wrote the upcoming Batman film, is supposedly writing a script for a live-action Mega Man film.

While I have no idea what Tomlin's work is like and if that's a good or a bad sign, I do think Mega Man is one of the video games that could function as a movie. Let's see what happens.

The Batman's Sounding Worse and Worse

Everything about this movie is scaring me. The fact that they spent years not getting a script going. The casting decisions that increasingly come off as if the goal is "to be different" rather than "to be good representations of those characters." Now, it's supposed to be that the costume is a slapped together mess and the Batmobile is just a regular muscle car?? Stop it. This is going to suck.

Live-Action Bambi

It was only a matter of time. I won't bother seeing it.

Joker's New Girlfriend Punchline

So in the comics, apparently Joker will be getting a new gal pal named Punchline. While I could see this being nothing but a lame attempt at having another Harley Quinn that is "more evil" so they can transition her more into a heroine, this has potential.
