Week in Geek #39: Pokemon Sword & Shield, Rami Malek Bond 25 Villain and More | Fanboys Anonymous
Welcome to another edition of WEEK IN GEEK here at Fanboys Anonymous—a rundown of some of the events, news and stories that went down over the past few days in the geek culture spectrum.

This week in geek culture Fanboys Anonymous nerd recap

Here are some of the topics I felt like voicing my opinions about:

Detective Pikachu Trailer 2

This movie looks so weird and ridiculous and strange and unsettling and I somehow love it. Curious why they blew that Mewtwo is in it in the trailer. Also, I'm going to need a Togepi, Oddish, Stufful and some of the other adorable ones to be in it.

Pokemon Sword and Shield

Great names, particularly for a region based on the United Kingdom. I like that better than Crown and Scepter, which were rumored.

As far as the starter Pokemon go, I don't really love or hate any of them. I keep wanting to refer to Sobble as "Sadpole" and I'm really hoping Scorbunny (which is a super dumb and lazy name) isn't yet another Fire/Fighting as there have been far too many of those.

More info on Generation 8 to come will be on future Week in Geek editions, and possibly even a special if I ever finish my "how I'd redo Generation I" article that I planned on doing but it became way way way too big, with me redoing the entire Pokedex and such. Look forward to that at some point.

No Will Smith/Deadshot for Suicide Squad 2

So first off, why is this being called "The Suicide Squad"? Second, no Deadshot? That sucks. Deadshot was one of the few things they got right in that movie and he's the best person for being that level-headed leader of the team.

This just stinks more and more as the project and the whole DC film thing goes on. Nothing ever seems like good news.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Renewed for Season 7

Woooooooooooo! I love this show and I'm so glad it was given a second chance instead of dying out in the Fox purge.

Rami Malek for Bond 25 Villain

Depending on the character, I could be totally in for this. Rumors are that he's blind, which is an interesting choice, but goes along with Bond villains having some kind of physical deformity or something, right? Now that Malek won Best Actor, I'm sure his price has gone up.

Dark Phoenix Trailer

So Jean Grey kills Mystique? Out of all the people to kill, I'm glad it's her, and it makes sense. Still, this movie looks like shit and I really just wish it wouldn't have been made.

Ghostbusters Casting News

Finn Wolfhard of Stranger Things and It has been cast, as well as Carrie Coon, who will play his single mother. Not too sure how to feel about that yet, but I like Wolfhard. The issue I have is that I want to make sure they address Oscar in this movie. I want him to be Peter and Dana's kid, and obviously, he'd be 30 now, not a teenager, so that's throwing me off.
