Week in Geek #73: Despicable Marvel Movies, Vice President Rhodes and More

Posted by Anthony Mango Monday, October 28, 2019
Welcome to another edition of WEEK IN GEEK here at Fanboys Anonymous—a rundown of some of the events, news and stories that went down over the past few days in the geek culture spectrum.

This week in geek culture Fanboys Anonymous nerd recap

Here are some of the topics I felt like voicing my opinions about:

Francis Ford Coppola Calls Marvel Movies "Despicable"

Martin Scorsese recently said the MCU doesn't qualify as cinema. Funny, it's a motion picture in the cinema, isn't it? Now, Coppola doubles down and says they're despicable and that you can't take anything away from them.

And here is where you insert your "old man yells at cloud" image. Jeez. Talk about someone who is too old to keep himself from getting swept up into what his previous generation did to him and just doesn't get it. That's what is happening—these two are from a different era and don't get it.

Many superhero films are garbage, just like comedies, action flicks, romance films, dramas, etc. Any movie can be great or terrible. Remember Godfather III?

Robert Zemeckis Will Helm Live-Action Pinocchio Film

No thanks.

Final Trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

Great visuals. The others had those, too. Based on my disappointment of the previous films, I have zero faith I'll love this and it will undo all the problems.

Vice President Rhodes

Apparently one of the dropped ideas from Avengers: Endgame was that Rhodey would have become the Vice President in the five year gap. To be honest, I love that idea and I wish they would have gone with it. Maybe, if they have this War Machine Disney+ show on the bubble, they could explore that.
