Non-Batman Commissioner Gordon TV Series Planned

Posted by Jeff Penner
Fox has agreed to a commit to a tv series starring Batman's cohorts in the Gotham City Police Department currently titled "Gotham". The lead character will be a young (presumably pre-Batman) James Gordon.

How the series will play out is a mystery for now, we know that the CW's "Arrow" has a slew of regular guest stars from the DC Universe comic book canon. If this is an earlier version of Jim Gordon, having several, or any, of Batman's rogues gallery may throw any kind of potential timeline recognition off kilter for many fans. How long this series can sustain without Batman remains to be seen. Back in 2002, a non-Batman tv series "Birds of Prey" even featured Batman in the opening credits...and still failed to perform in the ratings.

The comic books series "GCPD" was as non-Batman as it could be (though he appeared often) and the book was very well received until an (undeserved) cancellation.

At this point, all we can do is have our knee-jerk reaction to the announcement of the series ... what are your thoughts on following Jim Gordon as a young detective (possibly even *gasp*, pre-moustache)?
