Week in Geek #47: Gotham Series Finale and More

Posted by Anthony Mango Saturday, April 27, 2019
Welcome to another edition of WEEK IN GEEK here at Fanboys Anonymous—a rundown of some of the events, news and stories that went down over the past few days in the geek culture spectrum.

This week in geek culture Fanboys Anonymous nerd recap

Here are some of the topics I felt like voicing my opinions about:

Thoughts on Pet Sematary

Got to see the movie the other day and I enjoyed it. I'm not the biggest horror person out there and I hadn't seen the original, but this worked for me. I'd recommend it, overall.

Lucifer Season 4 Trailer

I'm digging it. I love this show and I'm really excited how they're going to be able to play around with more rated R type of material and a tighter story arc.

Gemini Man Trailer

I had not heard anything at all about this movie, and then saw the trailer during Endgame. Great marketing decision, as now that I'm aware it exists, I totally want to see it.

Gotham Series Finale

I stopped watching this show when Mad Hatter popped up, so there's your context of how I view this finale. Batman's my favorite character and this show was just too hokey and too all over the place and didn't do it for me as far as its execution and handling how the ages of characters worked and all.

But I had to watch the finale, of course. Here are my thoughts:

- I'm glad Commissioner Gordon has a mustache. They kind of ruined that, though.
- Barbara Kean is just a regular upstanding citizen I guess? That's weird.
- Riddler is full-on Frank Gorshin, I guess.
- Joker being a vegetable is a nice nod to The Dark Knight Returns.
- Lili Simmons is such perfect casting for Selina. Not only does she look like the older version of the younger actress, she's got the body frame, sex appeal, and everything else I'd want in a Catwoman.
- Penguin is totes Penguin. Awesome.
- That sushi looked good.
- Kind of a lame ending, especially with how Batman looked.

I feel like I dodged a bullet not watching the seasons I skipped out on. I can't help but to feel like if I had, I would have been disappointed with this finale.

Avengers: Endgame Breaking Records

BEAT ALL OF THEM. You deserve it. Biggest single day, opening day, weekend, domestic all time, worldwide all time, international all time, PG-13 all time....WIN. THEM. ALL.
