Week in Geek #46: Suicide Squad John Cena, Dark Phoenix Trailer and More

Welcome to another edition of WEEK IN GEEK here at Fanboys Anonymous—a rundown of some of the events, news and stories that went down over the past few days in the geek culture spectrum.

This week in geek culture Fanboys Anonymous nerd recap

Here are some of the topics I felt like voicing my opinions about:

Details on PlayStation 5

Not a gamer, but this site does delve into gaming here and there (and was originally intended to be a source for gaming as one of the tent poles) so I figured I'd chime in from an outsider's perspective.

It will be backwards compatible with PS4 games, which is great. One of the things that sold me on buying a PS2 at the time was not just the blu-ray player aspect of it, but how it was able to play old PS1 games. I think every console should at least attempt to be able to play older games from previous consoles. Obviously, sometimes, that requires too much manipulation and the specs just don't line up and everything, but at least the previous generation should be a given. Ideally, PS5 would have some kind of system put in place for you to play everything without having to re-buy the games that you already own and such, but hey, at least this is a start and it's something.

It will support 8K resolutions. That's crazy to me, but awesome. Improvements in audio, too.

Obviously, it's improvements all around as far as hardware, meaning stuff like faster load times (relatively speaking...because, of course, if they have faster load times, they'll up the weight of everything that comes out for the system to counteract it and then, it'll catch up) as well as I'm sure all sorts of different things. It all seems good from what I'm hearing, so yay to everyone who will pick one of these up in 2020 or whenever.

Another Avengers: Endgame Trailer

Just go watch this. So many goosebumps.

The Gifted is Cancelled

Didn't even see one episode. I couldn't be bothered, and I'm a big X-Men fan. These random offshoots that were treated like the early 2000s era of comic book material just don't do it for me like they used to. They can do better.

John Cena for Suicide Squad?

Supposedly, he's in talks for a role in the film. What that role could be, I have no idea, even though this is exactly the type of crossover you'd think would be my bread and butter, between Fanboys Anonymous and Smark Out Moment.

Maybe he'll voice King Shark? Rumor has it, Peacemaker, which is a character I have literally no knowledge about.

Final Trailer for Dark Phoenix

Neat visuals, but yeah, I still have no faith in this movie and I'm preparing myself for a total dud.
