Deadpool Volume 2: Dark Reign Review

Posted by The Dace Man Friday, November 2, 2012
Hey there my Dacetacular friends welcome back to the little section of Fanboys Anonymous known as the Dacesphere. Hope you enjoyed my last review of DeadPool Volume 1: Secret Invasion cause I'm rolling along right into Volume 2. This volume collects Issues 6-7 and 10-12....no idea why 8&9 were not included, but the stories are still good. This volume is written by the one and only Daniel way and penciled solely by Paco Medina this time around.

The story picks up with our anti-hero in a daze, after just getting his ass handed to him by Tiger Shark. Apparently some one has an arrangement with Tiger Shark to take out the Merc with a Mouth. So actions ensues! BAM! POW! KADAZIE! I may have made that last one up...copyright pending. The most import part of issues 6 and 7 is that Bob shows up! Don't know who Bob is? Glad you asked. Bob is an Agent of Hydra that had the unfortunate pleasure of debuting in Cable and Deadpool Issue #38 (Cable and Deadpool is also a great read, yeah I'm a Deadpool guy deal with it). To sum it up, Bob's a coward. Deadpool's a maniac in desperate need of a lacky, or at least in one of the versions of his mind. Enter Bob. Bob constantly helps Deadpool for fear that Deadpool will eventually cut him loose. Deadpool tortures the hell out of the guy mainly for a good laugh for the reader. So Bob's return to Deadpool comics in Issue 6 is greatly appreciated. So Towards the end of Issue 7 it is revealed who hired Tiger Shark to take out Deadpool which will set up Issues 10-12 and an epic show down between Deadpool and Hawkeye?

It is important to note that between issues of 7 and 10 Norman Osborn took over the Avengers in the comic event Siege. I have yet to read this but I am looking forward to it after reading Deadpool and Ms. Marvel tie-ins. Apart of this new regime of Avengers is a new HawkEye. The classic Hawkeye costume is now being worn by another pin point accurate man known as BullsEye. BullsEye and Deadpool have history through out the Deadpool Classic Series (Another one I haven't had a chance to gawk at), so to Norman this is the perfect man to finish off this nuisance. That being said Issues 10 through 12 are action packed and full of multiple murder attempts between the two. Not only is there loads of attempted murders there's also a back story to the Deadpool/BullEye relationship.

This Volume doesn't have as many cool features like Volume 1 did at the end but there is 1 variant art piece on the last page. So that wraps up Dark Reign and Deadpool Volume 2. This has been the one and only Chris "The Dace Man" Dace! As always check back regularly to see what  Chris "The Dace Man" Dace is looking at, and no not just porn, as well as all other bloggers here at Fanboys Anonymous. So for The Few, The Proud, and of course The Dacetacular, grab a beer, or in this case a chimichanga, and check out what's going on here in the Dace-Sphere. See ya next time.
