Michelle Quillen is a born and bred San Diegan who attributes her need to wear hoodies in 80 degree weather to the absence of a warm heart. During the day, she is an Associate Product Manager for a so-Cal company whose interactive games can be found in bars and restaurants. Michelle spends her night at home in the man cave with her husband of 7 years watching Netflix and hysterical YouTube videos. In between whiskey drinks, she's social networking or gaming on her Xbox 360, iPhone, or Razer Edge tablet. Writing has been apparent in her blood since she was 6 years old, as she anonymously left voluntarily written stories propped on the chalkboard ledge for the teacher's discovery. Hearing her composition read the next day to her classmates opened her eyes to the reward of successful written expression.
Having been raised by her father (a lead rock guitarist turned mechanical engineer) and her mother (a go-go dancer turned personal shopper), it's easy to pin the origins of Michelle's musical inclination, tech savvy and fashion sense. A self-taught keyboardist and wannabe banjo player, she started singing with her middle school choir in 1992 and went on 15 years later to perform professional gigs at local pubs with a band comprised of her closest friends. Along with the sudden independence of her parents' shelter came a passion for learning how to cook, and becoming a foodie obsessed with shows like Travel Channel's No Reservations and the Food Networks Chopped.
In her spare time, Michelle enjoys taking a ride in her and her husband's new Mustang GT, on the back of their Yamaha Roadstar S, and emptying rounds at the local shooting range. She dabbles in voiceover work, modeling, and would love to one day be a Special FX makeup artist.
What are some of your favorite movies of all time?
Not a huge fan of movies so the ones I happen to watch frequently are super lame: Slums of Beverly Hills, Little Woman, The Craft, Funny Farm, Empire Records, Addicted to Love, Requiem for a Dream, The Story of Us.
What are some of your favorite TV shows of all time?
Ren & Stimpy, My So-Called Life, Attack of the Show, Chopped, No Reservations, Sons of Anarchy, Gene Simmons Family Jewels, The Devil You Know, The Walking Dead, Chasing the Yum, Luke Nguyen's Vietnam, Shameless (US), Bar Rescue, and Game of Thrones.
What are some of your favorite video games of all time?
The Gears of War, Call of Duty, and Dance Central franchises, Left 4 Dead 1 & 2, Fable 3, and some of the Xbox games for Windows 8 that I come back to on a daily basis. I really like Ezio Auditore's character from Assassin's Creed 2 but because I have a very real and virtual fear of heights, those games make my hands sweat. My strengths are usually in FPS, I'm weak at fighting games, and in RPGs I spend more time customizing my avatar than in the actual game.
What are some of your favorite books or comics of all time?
Charles Manson: In His Own Words, Serial Killers
